R eplacing the valve cover gasket on the N54 E90. If the 13 year old gasket wasn’t so brittle it wouldn’t have been too bad. Now a break before getting the remaining gasket off the head, and new one in without a wrinkle.

Ho pefully.

Permatex gasket dressing is your friend.

Or at least I’ve had really good luck with it holding gaskets in place while I fumble around.

lol just ordered all the parts to replace my n54 valve cover. i did just the gasket ~3 years ago so hopefully its easier the 2nd time. I did not mind it too much, just lots of little parts to remove...

Its not a bad job. Just go at it at a leisure pace. I was supposed to work on my Celica today, but couldn’t find a spot weld cutter, and it is way to hot outside.

I have a huge box of parts for my new SAAB. Think I’ll start with the valve cover gasket too. Hopefully it’s not too sludgy in there.
